Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking skilled and passionate Chefs and Kitchen Staff to join the culinary teams onboard international cruise ships. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menus that cater to international guests.

  • Ensure all food items are prepared and served according to hygiene, safety, and quality standards specific to cruise line regulations.

  • Assist in menu planning and development in collaboration with the head chef and culinary team.

  • Manage kitchen inventory, including ordering, receiving, and proper storage of food supplies.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food preparation areas.

  • Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and departments to ensure smooth daily operations.

  • Monitor and control portion sizes to minimize food wastage.

  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation policies as required by international maritime and company standards.

  • Participate in continuous training and development programs to enhance culinary skills and knowledge.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Formal culinary training or certification from a recognized culinary institution is preferred.

  • Proven experience as a chef or kitchen staff, preferably in hospitality or cruise ship environments.

  • Strong knowledge of international cuisines and menu variety.

  • Excellent knife skills and proficiency in various cooking techniques.

  • Familiarity with HACCP and other food safety standards.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multicultural team.

  • Physically fit and able to handle the demands of a shipboard kitchen, including long hours on feet and lifting heavy items.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years working experience as a chef or kitchen staff in hotels, restaurants, or cruise ships is highly desirable.

  • Experience working in multicultural and fast-paced environments is an advantage.

Working Hours

  • Typical shifts may range from 8 to 12 hours, including weekends and holidays, as per the cruise ship roster.

  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts and extended hours during peak times.

  • Contract durations generally range from 3 to 6 months, with possibilities of extension based on performance and operational needs.

  • Comprehensive understanding of kitchen operations and culinary standards.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
